I was also beyond ecstatic in being able to share ideas with teachers, professors and consultants on active literacy and what it looks like in primary and secondary classrooms using literature (not basals!), literacy charts of all sorts as well as interactive literacy bulletin boards.
It was such a DELIGHT to share these ideas and a great honor to be in a room full of FABULOUS educators who were seeking ways to make literacy innovative for their students and teachers. I was completely humbled in hearing teachers share their own stories on how much they loved doing what they do day in and day out! ME TOO!
It's not said enough, but "Hats off" to every educator who strives to make a difference! THANK YOU for making such a positive impact in our sector!

Last but not least...
I wanted to share a website/blog that I came to know and love-The Nerdy BookClub. I know, I know...the name says it all. But I have to tell you that this site has been a great place to visit when in search of some GREAT literature and reviews.
Well-known authors including Seymour Simon contribute to this great site on their take concerning the latest literature! Every opportunity to join literacy rockstars such as Mr. Simon himself is worth a visit to a site or blog wouldn't you say?
And although I'm not close to being a literacy rockstar, I was given a grand opportunity to join them!
I couldn't pass up doing a retro book review for The Nerdy Book Club (yipee!). In fact, this opportunity allowed me to write a review on one of my all time favorites-The Graveyard Book by Neil Gaiman!
